Luk 2:11 “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
The literal event of His birth took place over 2000 years ago. While the exact date is not known, the fact of His birth is well established in the hearts of His children. It lives in the love we feel from Him and the love that have towards Him and His family.
The personal nature of His birth touches my heart deeply. “For unto you is born…” is a declaration of His love to each of us individually and personally. He left Heaven’s glory and entered this world of sin in the person of a baby for me and for you. He was our Savior when He was born. He did not become a Savior after He started doing the miracles or after He was crucified and resurrected. He was born a Savior! That infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger was our Savior.
As I said, the literal event took place over 2000 years ago. However, through the working of the Holy Ghost, it was made a reality to me as a young child. By God’s grace, I was moved to know the truth and power of the story of His coming! It was no longer just a story, but the very reality of my confidence in the love of God manifested to mankind in His Son, Jesus Christ, and revealed in the hearts of His people by the Holy Ghost.
This birth was miraculous and glorious on the night that it literally took place. It was miraculous and glorious when the truth of it was revealed in my heart. And glory to God in the highest, it is miraculous and glorious in the hearts of some of God’s children somewhere in this world every day. Through the working of the Holy Spirit, men and women, young and old, in every walk of life all over the world are still humbled by the joy of this holy truth: unto you is born a Savior, which is Jesus Christ the Lord!
May the God of love and grace fill your hearts with the celebration of the life of your Savior every day!
